Hot August Jazz

A free one day event presenting Jazz in venues in the North Hobart strip

Come along and enjoy a jazz spectacular not to be missed by any jazz lover.

The festival includes many styles of jazz and is played from 12 noon to 12 midnight, over three hotels and two restaurants. Many, many people come for lunch and stayed all afternoon while many came for dinner and stayed all evening some people do both.

The North Hobart strip was identified some time back as a most amenable precinct with 4 hotels and many restaurants concentrated in 3 convenient blocks.

August was selected as the hot festival month as this provides an even spread of jazz festivals around the state in a 12 month period. Also, jazz easily lends itself to an indoor, cosy environment thus eliminating cold weather as a deterrent for patrons.
